This Week in Comics (Jan. 30th, 2008)

January 30th, 2008

Generic name? Indeed, but let’s not split hairs. I’m fairly new at this comic blogging thing. Maybe in time I will be awesome.

So, the comic shop is closed for the night, and I’m home with this week’s stuff. What looks exciting?

Wormwood, Gentleman Corpse: Calamari Rising #1 (IDW)
Ben Templesmith returns to my favourite sentient-worm-that-is-piloting-a-corpse! It hasn’t been long since the one-shot that’ll wrap up the second trade, but dammit, you can’t stop me from being happy.

Suburban Glamour #3 (Image Comics)
I’ve been a big fan of Jamie McKelvie’s art since Long Hot Summer, and it’s just gotten better since then. And HOLY CRAP! He can write too! He better be ugly, or else I’m going to be pissed off at Cthulhu God for giving the guy TOO DAMN MUCH.

Proof #4 (Image Comics)
This book promises Bigfoot and el Chupacabra sitting down to hash things out over tea. Seriously, you had me at Bigfoot.

Manhunter Volume 4 (DC Comics)
Because this means the series is coming back soon. Right? RIGHT?

Captain America (Marvel)
Ed Brubaker has always been good on this book, but ever since Cap died, it’s been phenomenal. And now? Bru unleashes a brand new Cap. Hot damn!

Y - The Last Man #60 (Vertigo/DC)
If you need to know why, please e-mail me. So I can punch you in the digital throat.

Reviews to follow through the week, the best saved for Monday.
