A Few to Grow On
February 7th, 2008There’s going to be a large chunk of content hopping your way on Sunday, so let’s just get a few of these out of the way.
Amazing Spider-Man #549 (Marvel Comics)
You know what’s great about Spider-Man now? He’s fun again. This book is a genuine joy to read, and has been ever since the Spider-Man parts kicked into gear with the two issues ago. If team Spider-Man have more of these kind of stories on the way, then I’m in for the long haul.
Fables #69 (Vertigo/DC Comics)
Willingham has become the master of crafting stories where there is No Possible Way for Things to End Well - only to totally catch you by surprise with the opening of the next issue. Just when I think I know where Fables is going to go next, it swerves and goes somewhere even better. And the best part? When a lot of Vertigo titles got up to around this issue, it felt like it was time for an ending. With Fables, there seems to be a wealth of stories left to explore - and I can’t wait for that to happen.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #11 (Dark Horse)
In which we learn that lip gloss is nature’s way of saying “take me now”, and we get the pre-requisite Big-Bad being unstoppable a’for the gang figures out how to break him to pieces. Also, a Big Reveal Fake-Out! Awww yeah!
Wasteland #14 (Oni Press)
I reviewed this one over at ComiXtreme! Follow the link, and be wowed at something constructive!
